Climbing shoes are certainly very much about personal preference and feel. I have been climbing in the 5.10 Moc for the last 10 years or so, and it has been WONDERFUL! It functions well on anything: slab, microedges, smearing, cracks, sport, gym, etc. I really like the pull on slipper style, but this again is certainly personal preference. This is a climbing shoe so it is NOT going to be comfortable right out of the box if you are new to the sport. If this is the case you might want to spend some time at your local rock gym or outdoor sports gear shop and try some stuff on and get some advise on proper fitting. I wear a 9.5 street/athletic shoe (also this measurement on the metal foot measure thing in stores) and bought these in 8.5. After hours of climbing in them, and wearing them in I was still having issues with hot spots on a few of my toes. I ended up returning them to REI, and driving to a climbing Gym 30 miles away to try the Evolv Shaman's on. Ended up liking these more. The Evolv didn't fit me comfortably in any size but my street shoe size. With these I was able to downsize from an 11.5, to a 10. I was amazed. I kept putting my foot in a smaller shoe and enjoying it the same. For people with a Morton's toe these are basically a godsend. Huge toebox for people with duck feet, but the shoe still maintains a very low volume.Great shoe for both women and men.
